Gabby joined the Slape and Howard team in the fall of 2025. For some reason, Gabby stayed close
to home for college, earning a B.A. in Biology with minors in Pre-Law and Spanish from Newman
University in 2021, where she was recognized as an Ablah Awardee. She graduated from
Washburn University School of Law with her Juris Doctor in May 2024. In a rush to begin working
for the rest of her life, Gabby obtained her temporary license to practice law while in her third year
of law school and worked as a law clerk in Wichita. Before graduating law school, she was a 2018
graduate of Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School — and, fittingly, Miss Wichita.
Out of an abundance of delusion, Gabby thought it was a good idea to compete for Miss Kansas
while studying for the Kansas Bar Exam — and while she passed the exam, she’s happily retired
from competing in pageants. However, she continues to give back by emceeing events, mentoring
contestants, and lending a hand with mock interviews. Gabby is also the founder of Grit and
Aspirations, a personal development brand created for the late bloomers, goal-getters, and burnt-
out overachievers of the world (in other words, all the versions of herself she’s been along the
way).
Gabby tries to spend most of her time in litigation, where she thrives on oral advocacy, client
engagement, and trial preparation. She believes the best work happens when personality,
persistence, and preparation meet — traits her colleagues and clients can always count on to keep
things interesting in what is often considered a stale profession. You can usually find her in bright
colors for that very reason.
Family is also central to Gabby's story and has kept her grounded (and out of trouble). Her father,
Jean, is a healthcare administrator, and her mother Marie is a nurse at the VA — both longtime
Wichitans after immigrating from Haiti. Her brother, Patrick, works as a financial manager at Procter
& Gamble, and the two overlapped at Washburn University (though Patrick insists she followed him
there after college). They both ended up graduating on the same day! Her partner, David, known
affectionately (and literally) as Trainer Dave, is a certified strength coach (CSCS) and the head
strength coach at Newman; together they keep life lively, enjoying loads of food and sweet treats.
In fact, Gabby often can be found simply enjoying good food and good company with her family in
Wichita.
When she’s not practicing law or serving through Grit and Aspirations, Gabby enjoys commercial
modeling, community service, speaking on panels, and keeping her colleagues up to date on the
latest Gen Z trends. Gabby also serves as a board member for the Wichita Medical Research and
Education Foundation and is a proud member of the Wichita Chapter of the Links, Incorporated.
One of her favorite roles outside of all these is delivering addresses at local naturalization
ceremonies. With parents who became U.S. citizens in 2012, she knows firsthand how impactful
those ceremonies can be, and she considers it an honor to speak to new Americans after they
taken their oath.
